Missing postage
in the display
No postal rates selected or the postal rates are incom-
plete or incorrect.
Select complete postal rates
(see Chapter 6.2, page 38)

The weight is missing in order to calculate the postage
(display reads = 0 lb 0.0 oz).
Place the mail piece on the scale pan.
Weight is outside the per-
mitted limits
The displayed weight does not match the selected
postal rates.
Select other postal rates or repeat weighing
(see Chapter 6, page 36)
.
Weight display:
no weight is determined for
the letter on the scale
The scale pan was still occupied when another letter
was placed on it. The optimail 30 can determine a new
weight only if the scale has been emptied beforehand.
Empty the scale pan. Place the letter.
The weight on the pan is too low or the scale is over-
loaded.
Use scale for mail pieces within the permissible weight
range only
(see page 113)

Scale fails to detect zero point.
