5-3 Changes introduced in the Field
In addition to changes introduced in manufacturing, some components and procedures may be affected
by changes in the field. A component might be usable on a system as delivered from the factory, but not
on the same system after application of a specified FMI or component replacement.
5-3-1 Uppercase Alphabetic Change Tags
These changes are identified by uppercase alphabetic Field Change Tags, defined in the table below.
5-4 Example of Applying Numeric Change Point Codes and Field Change Tags
When changing a unit, you must be aware of both change point codes and field change codes that exist.
This is because for some situations both the change point code and field change code are applicable at
the same time.
For example, a failure in the Control Station CD-Writer must be corrected by installing a replacement
unit. The choice of replacement unit depends on the product history:
- System identified by Change Point code -25; manufacturing configuration M3 or M4,
The replacement unit is External CD-Writer kit reference 5142891 (replaces 2303825-2).
- System identified by Change Point code 25-30; manufacturing configuration M4Plus.
The replacement unit is ADS computer reference 2299357-9/10 (includes an internal CD-Writer).
- System identified by Field Change code BA; manufacturing configuration M3 or M4 modified after
failure of the original computer, which has been replaced by ADS computer reference 2299357-9.
The replacement unit is ADS computer reference 2299357-9/10 (includes an internal CD-Writer).
