1 SUMMARY
1-1 Problem
The size of the serial connector housing (1) in conjunction with the limited space in between the elec-
tronic boards and the housing of the IDC or ADS (2) can cause poor electrical connection on the serial
and RT cables within the system.
ILLUSTRATION 1 - DB9 PLUG AND SOCKET
This poor connection can cause intermittent connection failures, resulting in one or more of the following
IDC and/or ADS errors listed in Table 1 being raised intermittently.

1-2 Purpose
The purpose of this Job Card is fix intermittent communication faults, and stop the IDC and/or ADS
errors listed in Table 1 from being raised intermittently by the system.
1-3 Solution
On sites having one or more of the IDC and/or ADS errors listed in Table 1 being raised intermittently,
order the DB9 Adaptor Kit (5420609), and install the adaptors on the 9-pin D connectors on the IDC and
ADS as described in section 8, Procedure on page 1031.
IDC Error codes
E05 (079/013) - Failure Before Exposure
E18 (094/006) - IDC/Seno synchro failure
E19 (092/000) - I19 IDC/Seno comm. lost.
E19 (092/001) - IDC/Seno down, DPS is off.
E19 (092/003) - IDC/Seno down, DPS is off
E24 (084/013) - Failure before exposure.
ADS Error codes
Error code number 10 - Failure accessing hardware key
I17 (083/002) - AWS/SENO Comm. lost
E16 (079/017) - AWS/SENO Synchro fail
Error code number 7 - Communication problem with UPS
Note : The intermittent ADS error codes due to poor connections only occur on either the U20 or
Z400 ADS Computer. The SB-150 ADS Computer does not suffer from poor connections.
