6-1 Introduction
The diagram below illustrates the generic backup process.
When a backup is performed, the following operations occur:
• If Backup 1 files from a previous backup stored in ~/current already exist on the AWS hard disk, they
are renamed to Backup 2 stored in ~/previous on the AWS hard disk.
• For V1/V2 Control Stations the backup files in ~/previous (Backup 2) are then lost. Whereas for V3/
V4 Control Stations the ~/previous (Backup 2) files are copied to another location (Backup 3).
• A new backup file named Backup 1 is created on the AWS hard disk. This contains:
- AWS configuration data
The numerous AWS configuration files spread in many locations are gathered into four files and
copied to Backup 1.
- IDC configuration data
The IDC directory is copied to Backup 1.
- Senographe data
Senographe calibration files are copied through the AWS/Senographe serial link to Backup 1.
With the Generator parameters, the tube heater current parameters are not
saved.
• If external media (formatted floppy or CD-R) was optionally inserted then the three AWS configura-
tion files (ads.tar, iip.tar and iop.tar) are copied to the external media. No IDC or Senographe data
are written to the external media.
