3 AWS-IDC LINE TESTS
3-1 Internal Test (for V1/V2 Control Stations)
• Type of test: Open boot command
Note:
The internal test is only applicable to V1/V2 Control Stations.
1. Go to the ok prompt (see Go to ok Prompt on page 987).
2. At the ok prompt, enter:
test net
3. Relaunch the AWS application (see Relaunch the AWS Application on page 987).
• Result interpretation:
After the command has been entered, the following information appears:
Internal loopback test –
Result 1
Transceiver check – Result 2
where Result 1 and Result 2 are the results of each sub-test.
- If Result 1 is not Succeeded, the AWS motherboard is faulty. You must replace the ADS Com-
puter (see Job Card D/R A311 - AWS Unit on page 1401).
- If Result 1 is OK & Result 2 is not ok, the AWS transceiver is faulty. You must replace the ADS
Computer (see Job Card D/R A311 - AWS Unit on page 1401).
- If Result 1 & Result 2 are ok, the AWS motherboard is good, and either the cable is faulty or the
IDC is faulty. In this case, replace the Ethernet cable between the ADS Computer and IDC with a
cable that is known to work. Then attempt to ping the IDC, by entering
ping idc
If the IDC responds to the ping command, the cable was faulty. If the IDC still does not respond to
the ping command then the IDC is faulty and needs replacing.
3-2 External Test (for All Control Stations)
• Type of test: SUN VTS
1. From behind the Browser, launch a command window (see Launching a Command Line Window on
page 120).
2. Run the external test as follows:
For V1/V2 Control Stations, at the prompt in the command window, enter:
/opt/SUNWvts/bin/nettest –v -f -o dev=ce0,target=IDC
For V3 Control Stations, at the prompt in the command window, enter:
/opt/SUNWvts/bin/nettest –v -f -o dev=nge1,target=IDC
For V4 Control Stations, at the prompt in the command window, enter:
/opt/SUNWvts/bin/nettest –v -f -o dev=e1000g0,target=IDC
