Make sure that the master link pins are installed
properly.
Measure the master link pin length projected from
the plate.
Stake the master link pins.
Make sure that the pins are staked properly by mea-
suring the diameter of the staked area using a slide
caliper.
A drive chain with a
clip-type master link
must not be used.
After staking, check the staked area of the master
link for cracks.
If there is any cracking, replace the master link, O-
rings and plate.
DRIVE CHAIN SLIDER
Remove the crankcase rear cover (page 7-4).
Inspect the drive chain slider for excessive wear or
damage.
If it is worn to the wear indicator, replace the drive
chain slider (page 14-20).
STANDARD LENGTH:
1.3 1.5 mm (0.05 0.06 in)
MASTER LINK PINS

5.50 5.80 mm (0.217 0.228 in)
