  Check that the SLC loop impedance is within the required range. To measure impedance, use the following procedure. Disconnect both wires from the terminal block at the panel (SLC devices can remain connected). Measure the impedance from positive to negative and from negative to positive. Both measurements should be greater than 500 K ohms. If the installation uses T-taps, test each T-tap individually. Temporarily connect the positive wire to the negative wire of the SLC loop at the point farthest from the panel (SLC devices can remain connected). Measure the impedance from positive to negative and from negative to positive. Both measurements must be less than 40 ohms.

  The panel may show a ground fault if it detects an unexpected current flow from its terminals to the earth connection. You can isolate the fault by removing wiring connections one at a time, pausing at least five seconds between each removal, until the fault clears. Also, a computer connected via a serial or USB cable can cause this; the message can be ignored and will clear upon disconnection.

  First, check the hardware connections and wiring to ensure they are correct. For the main panel, the positive side of the device must connect to terminal 34, and the negative side to terminal 33. Also, ensure the SLC devices connect to the SLC loop via the SLC OUT terminals. Next, verify that the SLC devices have been addressed properly. For contact monitor modules using DIP switches, the DIP switch must be set to the correct address before applying power to the SLC loop. Finally, confirm that the correct polarity has been observed for the SLC device wiring.

  If the module's LED flashes in a 5-second on/5-second off pattern, it likely hasn't been added to the system through programming. Also, ensure the correct ID for the 5496 module has been set using the DIP switches; assign ID#1 to the first 5496 and ID#2 to the second. If the green LED isn't flashing, check the wiring between the 5496 and the panel and measure the voltage from the 5496 Terminal (+) to Terminal (-); it should be between 27.2-27.4V when AC power is present.
