Access
CRT/Yoke Assembly Removal
If replacing
the
CRT/yoke assembly with a new assembly, store the new assembly in its packing
box
until
it
is
installed
in
the
computer. Use the
same
packing
box
when
disposing of the defective
assembly.
WARNING
WEAR SAFETY GLASSES. BEFORE REMOVING THE CRT !YOKE
ASSEMBLY FROM ITS BOX, REMOVE ITEMS THAT COULD FALL
OUT
OF
YOUR SHIRT POCKET AND STRIKE THE
CRT.
To
remove
the
CRT
from its box, place the
box
on
the floor with the
top
of the
box
up.
Open
the
top
of the
box
and
hold the
base
of the
box
with
your
feet. Pull
up
on
the
cardboard
insert
surrounding the
CRT
and
remove
the insert with the CRT from the box.
CAUTION
WHEN HANDLING THE CRT!YOKE ASSEMBLY, DO NOT TOUCH
THE AREA AROUND THE YOKE. HANDLE ONLY BY CRT (BOT-
TLE) PART OF THE ASSEMBLY. YOKE ADJUSTMENTS ARE
MADE AT THE
FACTORY AND
ARE
EXTREMELY DELICATE.
WARNING
WAIT AT LEAST 5 MINUTES FOR CAPACITOR DISCHARGE AF-
TER REMOVING
POWER CORD.
1.
Remove
display
power
supply board.
2.
Remove
sweep
board.
3.
Remove
video board.
4.
Remove
front bezel
and
attached
CRT
window from chassis (Figure 4-90).
5.
Cut
cable tie wrap
at
top
of CRT
and
move
all
cables
out
of the way.
6.
Prepare
a place with a non-scratching surface to set the CRT/yoke assembly. A magazine,
upholstered chair,
or
soft
pad
is
adequate.
