9 Communication 9.8.2 Ethernet Conguration
If the device serves as a slave station, you only need to congure the IP address.
If the device serves as the master station, you need to congure the master station.
● IP address: It is a device identier on a network. The IP address of each device must be unique;
otherwise, the device cannot be connected to the network. The rst three segments of an IP address
are congured using AutoShop. The last segment can be customized or congured through the DIP
switch, and the value ranges from 1 to 254.
• H3U-3232 model: When the rotary switch is set to 255, the IP address is forced to be 192.168.1.1.
• H3U-1616 model: When bits 1 to 8 of the DIP switch are set to ON, the IP address is forced to be 192.168.1.1.
• If the IP address is invalid, it will be set to 192.168.1.1.
● Subnet mask: Multiple physical networks are identied with the same address. A mask is used to divide
an IP address into subnet address and host address. To obtain a subnet address, you can reserve the
digits of the IP address corresponding to "1" digits of the mask, and then replace other digits with "0". If
not specied, the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0.
● Gateway address: It can be used to route messages to devices outside the network. If no gateway is
available, the value is 0.0.0.0.
● Port: Port TCP 502 listening is reserved for Modbus TCP. This port must be listened on, which cannot
be congured.

When an H3U PLC serves as the master station, in addition to the IP address, you need to congure other
parameters such as data length. Click

. The following window is displayed.
● Device name: It is auxiliary information, which can be customized.
● Slave station IP address: It should be congured based on the device address. You can double-click
the space so that the existing IP address will be displayed, or you can create an IP address. There can
be multiple congurations for one IP address.
● Communication mode: In cyclic mode, the master station accesses a slave station cyclically. In
triggered mode, trigger elements are used: when the element is ON, the master station accesses the
slave station; after the operation is nished, the element is automatically set to OFF.
● Function: Functions include reading coils, writing coils, reading registers, and writing registers.
● Trigger condition: It can be a non-special M or S element.
● Slave register address: It is the address of the coil or register to be accessed (hexadecimal).
