Appendix A — Error Handling
ESim for the PC4 and PF8 Printer Programmer’s Reference Manual 149
The command eR specifies the format of the error output
information.
Parallel Port
When an error occurs, the parallel port marks error status by
setting pin 12 to an active state.
Error Recovery/Output
When an error occurs, the printer typically enters a waiting loop
and waits for the operator to handle the error. During this “Error
Waiting Loop” only the commands ^ee and ^@ can be executed.
The error recovery is often performed by pressing the Feed key.
This releases the printer from the waiting loop and sends recovery
information on the serial line (RS-232 or USB), normally
<XON>.
For direct recovery, see also commands USA or USB.
