3 Operation
Cost-effective driving with good fuel economy is assured when
the following operating instructions are observed:
Driving in medium
speed range.
Use the highest
gear possible.
Anticipate traffic
conditions ahead.
Avoid unnecessary
braking or acceleration.
3.1 Starting engine and setting off
Close the parking brake (this prevents the vehicle from
starting to roll unintentionally).
Shift transmission to neutral position.
Start engine.
Fully depress clutch pedal.
Engage gear (preferably 1st gear to protect the clutch).
Release parking brake and carefully engage the clutch.
Note vehicle manufacturer’s instructions.
DANGER
When leaving the vehicle when the engine is running,
the vehicle might start rolling unintentionally.
Engage parking brake!
3.2 Actuating the clutch
Always fully depress the clutch pedal.
CAUTION
Changing gears when clutch is not completely separated
causes wear on the transmission synchronizers.
