3.3 Shifting the transmission
ZF-Ecosplit transmissions are synchronized transmissions.
A synchronizer is the synchronizing device for the gears.
This makes shifting more comfortable.
CAUTION
• Do not operate clutch twice when upshifting.
• No intermediate throttle application and no double-clutch
whendownshifting, even for downhill and other difficult
situations.
3.3.1 Transmission shift pattern
Superimposed H
The superimposed H shift pattern (Fig. 6) has a spring-moun-
ted neutral position (idle position) in shift gates 3/4 (low range
change group) and 7/8 (high range change group).
In order to select shift gates 1/2 and 5/6, move the shift lever
in the desired direction pressing against the spring force and
hold against this spring force.
The shift lever jumps back to neutral when it is released from
the central position of the shift gate.
The shift gate for the reverse gear is protected by a pawl stop
and requires more force to be applied.
