4 Maintenance
Regular maintenance increases the service life of the transmis-
sion. It is therefore of particular importance that maintenance
intervals are observed.
NOTES
Please make sure that no plugs, switches, tubes, and pipes
are damaged during maintenance.
The switching system has an essential influence on the
transmission’s functionality and service life. Avoid damages.
Only do maintenance works when the vehicle is standing
still.
During maintenance work, also check the transmission for
seal tightness.
Observe the maintenance information provided by the
vehicle manufacturer.
4.1 Transmission fluid
4.1.1 Oil grade
NOTE
When filling transmissions, only the oils specified in the
latest applicable version of the ZF List of Lubricants
TE-ML 01 or TE-ML 02 are authorized.
The List of Lubricants can be obtained from all ZF Service
Centers or downloaded at www.zf.com.
We recommend that you use ZF-Ecofluid M.
4.1.2 Oil fill quantity
The key requirement for the precise oil quantity is that the oil
fill is performed correctly (see Chapter 4.2.2). The oil quantity
is shown on the type plate (attached to the side of the
transmission) and in the Technical Data (refer to Chapter 1).
For oil level check, refer to Chapter 4.3.
4.1.3 Oil change interval
For oil change intervals, refer to the ZF List of Lubricants
TE-ML 01 or TE-ML 02.
