3.9 Initial startup of vehicle at low temperatures
The transmission is filled with oil according to ZF List of Lubri-
cants TE-ML 01 or TE-ML 02. At outside temperatures of less
than -15 °C, suitability of the oil grade must be checked
according to List of Lubricants TE-ML 01 or TE-ML 02. It may
be necessary to change the oil in the transmission.
Alternatively, the oil can be preheated before starting the
engine. This can be done using hot air which must not exceed
a temperature of 130°C on the transmission.
DANGER
When leaving the vehicle when the engine is running,
the vehicle might start rolling unintentionally.
Engage parking brake.
NOTE
Starting the engine and setting off, refer to Chapter 3.1.
Vehicle manufacturer specifications must always be
observed.
3.9.1 Parking the vehicle at low temperatures
At outside temperatures below 0 °C, it is to be ensured that
the low range change group is selected when the vehicle is
parked (shift lever in 1st gear or neutral position of shift gate
3/4).
