LB 9507 Chapter 8: T-Uptake/FTI-Measurements
8-1
8. T-Uptake/FTI-Measurements
8.1 Introduction
These measurements are for evaluating patient samples with a
standard according to the following equation
RLU value of the patients
%-uptake = (2 - ) x reference value
RLU value of the euthyroid standard
An option is also available for converting the above uptake values
to an FTI (Free Thyroid Index) value. This requires first
conducting a T4 (or T3) assay in the previous series of tests.
Because the Lumat LB 9507 always stores the measured mean
concentrations of control and patient values sequentially for each
assay, these T4 values can be converted, if the FTI option is
selected, using
(T4 conc.) x (%-uptake)
FTI =
100
The fact that the number of patient values may not be the same in
the two assays is of no consequence: if more T4 values are
measured than the number of T-uptake values that come later,
only the first ones are converted. If there are more T-uptake
values than T4 values, the other T-uptake values are output
without an FTI value. The important thing is that the order of
underlying control and patient series matches in the T4 and T-
uptake measurements.
The displays are numbered with T1, T2, ... TX.
