[2] CHECKING/ADJUSTING BOOM TELESCOPING WIRE ROPE
• Always wear thick leather working gloves for handling of wire ropes.
• To adjust the boom telescopic wire rope, strictly adhere to the procedure as specified below.
Any ommission or falure to follow the procedure may cause a hazard with the boom or hoisting
load dropping.
[CHECKING BOOM TELESCOPING WIRE ROPE]
Prompt adjustment is required if the following event appears in the
boom extending wire rope.
1. Set the boom horizontal and telescope it several times, then
retract it to the minimum length.
2. Measure that 5mm clearance (a) (shown at right) is formed
between No.4 boom (2) and No.5 boom (1).
• If the gap (a) is 2mm or less, there is no need to adjust the wire
rope.
• If the gap (a) is 2 to 4mm, see “Adjustment of Boom
Telescoping Wire Rope” to adjust the wire rope.
• If the gap (a) is 4mm or more, the boom telescopic cylinder
itself is needing adjustment. Please contact us or our sales
service agency for the service.
[ADJUSTMENT OF BOOM TELESCOPING WIRE ROPE]
As a result of checking the wire rope, if the gap (a) is 2 – 4 mm,
adjust the wire rope following next instruction.
1. Remove 4 mounting bolts (4) and remove the cover (3).
2. Remove 2 mounting bolts (6) and 2 washers, and remove
support (5).
3. Loosen both the boom telescopic wire rope adjusting bolts (7)
on the left and right side, for 1 turn.
4. Remove 2 mounting bolts (9) and 2 washers, and remove
support (8).
5. Tighten the boom retracting wire rope adjuster bolt (10) so that
the clearance (a) is 2 mm or less.
6. After adjustment, restore supports (5) , (8), mounting bolts (6),
(9) and washers, to the position where they were, then tighten
the mounting bolts in both left and right side equally.
7. Set the cover (3) of boom top and tighten mounting bolt (4).
