PROBLEM 2
The engine rotates, but will not start.
POSSIBLE
No fuel to or from the injector pump, water or algae in the fuel, air intake restricted or blocked,
engine load is too high, low battery amperage to gain starting RPM, fuel shut-off is not working correctly.
CHECKS
Disengage the drive clutch. Try starting the engine again.
Starts No Start
Check that all system pumps are centered. (See Section 2 - Control Calibration.)
Remove the injector pump inlet line. Check for fuel flowing out of the line while trying to start the engine.
No FuelGood Stream of Clear Fuel
Make sure the injector pump fuel shut-off valve is fully open.
Fully Open Not Open
Check for fuel in the tank or line obstruction.
A fuel additive is recommended in cold
weather. Algae can occur in warm climates.
Make adjustments to the solenoid shut-off valve or check valve for the correct operation.
Remove the injector pump inlet line. Try starting the engine. Look for any momentary burst of fuel.
Fuel
No Fuel
Loosen fittings at the filters. Start the engine while holding the
throttle open to bleed air. Re-tighten the lines and start the engine.
No Start
Check all fuel lines for air
down-stream of the transfer pump.
No Operation
Repair or replace the injector pump
Check the intake for obstruction.
No Obstruction
Check the engine for adequate cranking RPM.
400 RPM or Less
Check each battery. Replace the battery if the voltage drop exceeds 8 volts
while engine is starting. (See Section 7 - Battery Maintenance.)
