Description This command configures the encapsulation method used for the port on the 16-port T1/E1
ASAP Adapter card, 32-port T1/E1 ASAP Adapter card, 2-port OC3/STM1 Channelized
Adapter card, 4-port OC3/STM1 / 1-port OC12/STM4 Adapter card, 4-port DS3/E3 Adapter
card (DS3 ports only), or 4-port T1/E1 and RS-232 Combination module (T1/E1 ports only).
This parameter can be set on both access and network ports.
For access mode, the supported encapsulation types are atm, cem, frame-relay,
cisco-hdlc, hdlc, and ipcp. Table 28 lists the adapter cards and the corresponding
encapsulation types.
For network mode, only ppp-auto encapsulation is supported.
To change the encap-type, the channel group must first be deleted, then reconfigured with
the new encap-type.
