Level 2 Maintenance, X-1000 Series Dispensing Systems 3-44 P/N 196515 (Revision A)
Exercise Sheet 3-8-2
Cleaning the DP-3000
Tools and Materials Needed:
 Soft cloth
 Scribe
 Cleaning step bottle brush (provided with DP-3000)
 Mild solvent or isopropyl alcohol (IPA).
 Compatible solvent for your fluid (see the MSDS for fluid compatibility)
1. Wipe off the piston with a soft cloth and mild solvent or IPA.
2. Unscrew the priming chamber and lift it off of the top of the pumping
chamber.
3. Use the scribe to remove all of the seals and O-rings from the priming and
pumping chambers.
4. Remove the prime port from the side of the priming chamber.
5. If your priming chamber is equipped with the plastic prime port, discard the
prime port and replace it with a new one.
6. If your priming chamber is equipped with the metal Luer prime port, save it
and clean it with the rest of the parts.
7. Using the cleaning step brush and solvent, clean the pumping chamber, the
priming chamber, the metal Luer prime port (if one is present), the pumping
chamber seal, and the O-rings.
8. Replace the O-rings as recommend.
9. Replace the seal according to the guidelines below.
 Do NOT use acetone or isopropyl alcohol (IPA) to clean the seals or O-
rings. These solvents will cause seal degeneration that results in fluid
leakage. Many solvents will cause the O-rings to swell so that the
pumping chamber does not fit correctly onto the pump. Therefore, you
should NOT soak the O-rings in solvent when cleaning the pump.
 Also, when using the DP-3000 with encapsulants and underfill materials,
you MUST change the seal at least once a week. These materials may
cause the seals to leak, allowing fluid into the feed screw, upper body
and piston areas.
10. Place the pumping and priming chambers into an ultrasonic cleaner.
11. Inspect the interior of the pumping and priming chambers to make sure that
all residual material has been removed.
12. When you are satisfied that all of the parts are clean, reassemble and
reinstall the DP-3000.
