1. Remove pulley with tool C 4068. (Refer to figure 24-l3.)
2. Rcmove three bearing retainer screws.
3. Pry drive end bearing retainer from end shield with a screwdriver.
4. Support end shield and tap rotor shaft with a plastic hammer to separate rotor from end shield.
5. Remove drive end ball bearing with Puller Tool C-1068. (Refer to figure 21 l4.)
6. The needle bearing in rectifier end shield is a press fit. If necessary to remove rectifier end shield
needle bearing, protect end shield by supporting shield with tool C-3925 when pressing bearing out
with tool C-3770A.
TESTING OF ROTOR
l. Check for a grounded field coil by connecting an ohmmeter from each slip ring to rotor shaft. The
ohmmeter should read infnite. If reading is zero or higher, rotor is grounded.
