AIS
If a compatible AIS (Automatic Identification System) source is
connected to the system, then any targets detected by these
devices can be displayed and tracked. You can also see messages
and position for DSC transmitting devices within range.
AIS targets can be displayed as overlay on chart images, making this
feature an important tool for safe travelling and collision avoidance.
You can set alarms to notify you if an AIS target gets too close or if
the target is lost.
AIS target symbols
The system uses the AIS target symbols shown below:
Sleeping AIS target (not moving or at anchor).
Moving and safe AIS target with course extension line.
Dangerous AIS target, illustrated with bold line.
A target is defined as dangerous based on the CPA and
TCPA settings. Refer to "Defining dangerous vessels" on page
156.
