4.3.2 CLARiTY HMI Display and Power Supply Unit (PSU)
The CLARiTY operator interface can be mounted at a convenient location so that the operator
has adequate access to the panel. The CLARiTY HMI display has a removable PSU.
The unit has two M6 mounting holes located at the sides of the unit, as shown in Figure 4-4 for
the standard CLARiTY HMI display.
The maximum distance of the PSU from the printer body is 5 m (16.4 ft). The standard cable
length is 3 m and 1.2 m, 4 m and 5 m are available as options.

The HMI display can be mounted in any convenient location, provided that the maximum lead
length of is not exceeded. The mounting brackets provided allow you to position the HMI
display and PSU against a convenient vertical flush surface.
4.3.3 Encoders
An encoder is used to match the printing speed to the speed of the target material as it passes the
printhead.
The encoder output can be one of the following:
• Open collector, quadrature
• Push-pull, 24 V
The encoder must ideally be mounted to run on the packaging film, close to the printer, in order
to accurately measure the film speed. Any discrepancy between measured and actual film speed
can result in poor print quality or ribbon breakage.
