8.6.3 Loop Ethernet Ports (ZIP2x2 only)
This option tests the two Ethernet circuits on the phone. To conduct this test, you must power the
phone from an ac adapter.

To perform the Loop Ethernet Ports test:
1. Select Menu | Self Test | Loop Switch. The LCD displays:
2. Using a CAT5 cable, connect the Ethernet LAN port to the Ethernet PC port

OK button. The phone displays:
The phone sends data packets from the PC to LAN ports and from the LAN to PC ports. It
sends up to 999 packets out of each circuit, or until you press the Esc button to stop the test.
It receives the packets and checks for errors. If it receives a packet with no errors it shows this
on the bottom row. If it fails to receive a packet within 25 ms or if the packet has errors, it
does not count this in the totals on the bottom row.
The bottom row shows how many packets each circuit has received. If there are no errors,
both counts will be the same. If you let the test run for the maximum number of 999 packets,
each value should be 999.
3. Press Menu, Esc, or OK to exit this test. If you press Menu, the phone exits the menu system.
If you press OK or Esc, the phone displays the Self Test menu shown in section 8.6.1 on page
119.
Caution Remove all cables from the back of the ZIP2x2 before proceeding. You must not
connect the phone to your network with a loop on the Ethernet ports of the phone.
8.6.4 Buttons and Keys
This option tests the buttons and keys on the phone. To perform the Buttons and Keys self test:
1. Select Menu | Self Test | Buttons & Keys. When you select this, the display shows:
