When you press the Fn key, it does not lock the selection of secondary use of the buttons.

Therefore, if you want to select another secondary function, you must press the Fn button again.
For example, suppose you want to enable encryption and then mute the call. You would:
1. Press and release Fn, then press and release Msg | Encrypt to enable encryption.
2. Press and release Fn, then press and release Hold | Mute to mute the call.
You use the Esc and OK buttons and the volume bar to navigate the menu as described in section
5.4.3 on page 41.
The use of each of the buttons is described in later sections.
5.3 Handset and Speaker
5.3.1 Handset
The handset is the traditional phone apparatus through which you conduct a conversation. The
handset cord socket is located on the left side panel of the phone, as shown in figure 3-1 on
page 13.
5.3.2 Speaker
The speaker and external microphone provide speakerphone capability, allowing you to conduct
a conversation without using the handset. The speaker also provides hands free dialling. Press
the speaker button to activate the speakerphone. Press the speaker button again to disable the
speakerphone. The handset is not functional when the speakerphone is enabled.
5.4 Basics of Display Organization
The LCD is used to display information and configuration.
The Menu button provide access to the menu so you can configure the phone. From the menu
you can also view information about the phone. Some buttons directly affect the operation of the
phone or the way the phone interacts with the phone system.
As you make or receive calls, or affect the operation of the phone, the LCD shows the status of the
calls and the phone’s interaction with the system.
5.4.1 Idle
When the phone is idle:
• both call appearance LEDs are off
• the phone displays a greeting message on the first row of the display
• the phone displays the date and time on the third row of the display
