The phone looks at the contact’s name to find a match. If you have not entered a name for
the contact, the phone displays the address (SIP URI or number). The SIP URIs are sorted
within the alphabetical list. Numbers are at the end of the list.
5. If the contact is not the one you wanted:
a. Use the Up and Down keys to scroll through the list of names.
b. Press the keys again to select the first letter for a different contact.
6. To dial a contact, press the OK button, press a call appearance button, or go off hook.
The phone exits the menu function and dials the number.
7. To exit the search function without dialling the contact, press the Esc button.
8.2.2 Add New Contact
To add a new contact to the phone book:
1. Select Menu | Phone Book | Add new contact.
2. The display shows:
The phone automatically places the keypad in character mode and shows F:abc on the top
row.
3. Type the name of the contact using the character mode described in section 6.2.5 on page 49.
The maximum length of the name is 19 characters. After you have typed the 19th character
the cursor remains on the last character. If you try to add more characters, the phone plays
the DTMF digit for the # key and replaces the last character in the string with the last typed
character. If the name is greater than 15 characters, the display scrolls to show just 15
characters
4. Press the OK button.
You can press the OK button without entering a name for the contact.
5. The display shows:

1. The phone prompts you for an address to indicate that either a name or a SIP URI is acceptable.
