Ford System & Actuator Tests
Depending on the vehicle under test, the Active Test menu provides
access to one or more of the following tests:
n Spark Advance
n Gear Command by Output State Control
n One-Touch Start Status
n (EVAP) Vapor Blocking Valve
n Output State Control of Torque
Converter
n Fan Speed Desired
n Fuel Pump
n Injector Disable
If an error occurs while performing any function, an “advisory”
message displays. Choose Exit to return to the Special
Functions menu.
Spark Advance
The Spark Advance function lets you increase or decrease spark advance.
1. Select Spark Advance in the Active Test menu, then press ENTER
.
n An “instructional” screen displays. Prepare the vehicle for test as
directed:
- Place the transmission in PARK.
- Start and idle the engine.
2. Press ENTER to continue.
n The Spark Advance screen displays.
3. Select Increase or Decrease, as
desired, then press ENTER .
n The screen refreshes to show the
Result.
4. Repeat step 3 as desired.
5. Choose Exit to return to the Active Test
menu.
Gear Commanded by Output State Control
The Gear Commanded by Output State Control function lets you select
the transmission gear command.
1. Select Gear Commanded by Output State Control in the Active
Test menu, then press ENTER .
