4. If the VTC system passes the test, a
“confirmation” screen displays. Choose
Back to return to the Active Test menu.
n If conditions are out-of-range for
VTC control, or if the VTC system
fails test phase 2, an “advisory”
screen displays. Choose Back to
return to the Active Test menu.
IACV Test
The IACV Test function lets you perform a test of the vehicle’s Idle Air
Control Valve (IACV).
1. Select IACV Test in the Active Test menu, then press ENTER .
n A series of “informational/instructional” screens display. Choose
Continue as necessary to scroll the screens. Prepare the vehicle
for test as directed:
If DTCs are present in the vehicle’s computer, an “advisory”
screen displays. Clear DTCs before proceeding.
- Make sure battery voltage is between 10.5V – 15.5V.
- Start the engine and allow to warm up. Make sure engine coolant
temperature does not exceed 100°F. Turn the ignition off. Turn the
ignition back on. DO NOT start the engine.
- Set the parking brake.
- Place the transmission in PARK or NEUTRAL.
- Make sure all vehicle electrical devices are OFF.
- Make sure the steering wheel is in the center position, and DO
NOT move during testing.
2. Choose Continue to proceed.
n An “instructional” screen displays.
3. Start and idle the engine.
n A “status” screen displays while
Stage 1 of the test is in progress.
The screen shows the current
Engine Speed and IAC
COMMAND.
n A “confirmation” screen displays
when testing is complete.
- If conditions are out-of-range for idle
air control, an “advisory” message
displays. Choose Back to return to
the Active Test menu.
4. Choose Continue to proceed.
