5. A “status” screen displays while the test
is in progress.
n The screen shows EGR LIFT
SENSOR voltage, and may show
ENGINE SPEED.
6. Release the accelerator pedal when
prompted.
7. If the EGR system passes test phase 2,
a “confirmation” screen displays.
Choose Back to return to the Active Test
menu.
n If the EGR system fails test phase 2,
an “advisory” screen displays.
Choose Back to return to the Active
Test menu.
VTC Test
The VTC Test function lets you perform a check of the vehicle’s Variable
Timing Control (VTC) system.
1. Select VTC Test in the Active Test menu, then press ENTER .
n An “instructional” screen displays. Prepare the vehicle for test as
directed:
- Make sure all vehicle electrical devices are OFF.
- Make sure the steering wheel is in the center position, and DO
NOT move during testing.
- Start and idle the engine.
- Set the parking brake.
- Place the transmission in neutral.
2. Choose Continue to proceed.
If DTCs are present in the vehicle’s computer, an “advisory”
screen displays. Clear DTCs before proceeding.
n An “instructional” screen displays. Perform the following:
- Press and hold the accelerator to maintain engine speed
between 3500-4000 RPM.
- Maintain engine speed above
3000 RPM for the duration of the
test.
n A “status” screen displays while the
test is in progress. The screen
shows Engine Speed and Valve
Timing.
3. Maintain engine speed above 3000
RPM for the duration of the test.
