The Web Configurator
This section introduces the configuration and functions of the web configurator.
4.1 Introduction
The web configurator is an HTML-based management interface that allows easy Switch setup and
management via Internet browser. Supported browsers at the time of writing are:
• IE 8 or later
• Chrome 34.0.1847.131 or later
• Firefox 29.0.1 or later
• Opera 21.0 or later
• Safari 5.1.7 or later
The recommended screen resolution is 1024 by 768 pixels. In order to use the web configurator
you need to allow:
• Web browser pop-up windows from your device. Web pop-up blocking is enabled by default in
some browsers.
• JavaScript (enabled by default).
• Java permissions (enabled by default).
4.2 System Login
1 Start your web browser.
2 Type “http: / / ” and the IP address of the Switch (for example, the default management IP address is
192.168.1.1 through an in-band (non-MGMT) port and 192.168.0.1 through the MGMT port) in the
Location or Address field. Press [ ENTER] . Your computer must be in the same subnet in order to
access this website address.
3 The login screen appears. The default username is admin and associated default password is
12 34. The date and time display as shown if you have not configured a time server nor manually
entered a time and date in the General Setup screen.
