SPARK AUTO – Automatic First Spark Detection
SPARK AUTO Mode requires a First Spark Detection signal from the EDM machine.
Refer to Input Connections (With I/O Option Only).
NOTE: You must also set up the desired EDM features using the procedures described
in Relay 1 (Z-Depth Guard) Setup – F 38 and Relay 2 (Spark-
Out/SparkArrest
TM
) Setup – F 39.
1. Position the electrode in the desired X and Y positions.
2. Press to activate EDM Mode.
The DRO displays the following in the message window:
Wait spark
3. Lower the electrode until it touches the workpiece or the first spark occurs.
The DRO automatically activates EDM Mode.
q Axis 1 display now indicates the distance to the target depth.
q Axis 2 display indicates the target depth.
q Z-axis display indicates the actual Z-position relative to the zero position.
4. Start the sparking cycle.
If necessary:
5. Press to toggle between EDM
Mode and X-, Y-, and Z-axis
display mode.
