7.5.3.2 Move to Second Scan Point
The positioner now moves through the scan width searching for data satellite. Once the system or
external signaling device (i.e. modems, beacon receiver, etc.) declares a lock. The system will
discontinue the scan and move into the peaking sequence. This may vary with signaling device used.

7.5.4 Peaking Sequence
In general, the acquisition process attempts to locate and lock onto the strongest signal detected
from the desired satellite using the signal levels and reported by the Modem, beacon receiver, RSL
etc. This operation consists of the following steps:

particular profile. See chapters 4 & 5 for more information on the Profile
system.
7.5.4.1 Coarse peaking
Coarse Peaking is the typical method used to automatically coarse peak on a satellite. This method
sweeps in Azimuth based on the “Coarse Peaking Width” setting. Upon completion of the sweep, it
will return to the highest signal level position where it then will move elevation based on the
“Peaking Height” setting. Upon completion of the elevation movement, it will once again return to
the highest signal level position.
