Chapter 6 AAQ System Configuration Variables (Parameters)
6.1 Introduction
As mentioned in Chapter 1, the AAQ employs a complete set of configuration parameters that allow a
single set of software instructions (ROM code) to control a variety of transportable antenna systems. In
this chapter, all of the standard configuration parameters that are visible and adjustable by the system
integrator and other users of the antenna system (Level 0 to 4) are discussed in detail. The purpose of
each parameter, or group of related parameters, is described and the effect a change in that parameter
will have is also discussed. A table is included in each section that provides the following information:
- Long Name Parameter name as it appears when listed in the AAQ Remote application.
- Level User log-in privilege level associated with that parameter. Only users at that level, or higher,
will be able to view or modify that parameter’s value.
- Type The type of value associated with the parameter as listed:
Choice Chosen from a drop-down menu listing fixed options.
Float Floating point number with decimal point.
Integer Whole number that is usually positive.
String String of alpha-numeric characters.
Unsigned Status flag, typically having a value of “0” or “1.”
- Value Range Upper and lower limit on parameter value.
- Documentation “Tool-Tip” that appears when that parameter is selected in the AAQ Remote GUI.
It offers a basic description of the parameter.
The following sections are arranged in a suggested order for review by a system integrator (Level 4 user)
upon receipt of the AvL antenna system. The antenna system will arrive with all of these parameters set
to a nominal value by AvL Engineering, Production and Service groups to facilitate system level testing in
the factory. The vast majority of these parameters may not need to be modified. However, some of them
do need the system integrator’s attention to insure safe and optimal operation of the fully integrated
antenna system.
Please be advised that the configuration parameters addressed in this chapter are not all inclusive and do
not include those associated with some AAQ ACU features and are subject to change. Those parameters are
addressed in appendices to this document and should also be reviewed by the system integrator upon
receipt of the AvL antenna system for the same reasons cited above. The parameters addressed in this
chapter are listed below alphabetically and by category:
