Chapter 8 - Troubleshooting
There are many interfaces between the AAQ and positioner including sensors, limit switches, the mechanical
components of the antenna and ancillary satellite equipment, etc. Some issues are due to interactions that
are not always readily apparent. A review of symptoms and faults will be given in this section.
8.1 Alarms & Messages
Numerous alarms, cautions, prompts and running messages are presented by the AAQ GUI depending upon
situation as well as the equipment supplied with each type of system. This section will list and describe those
found within the current revision.
8.1.1 Alarms
The following table lists alarm messages and their descriptions as shown on the AAQ GUI:
The azimuth potentiometer cannot be read. The azimuth RIOM reports
this error. This does not indicate an azimuth potentiometer is broken, it
indicates the A/D interface cannot be read by the RIOM.
The elevation potentiometer cannot be read. The elevation RIOM reports
this error. This does not indicate an elevation potentiometer is broken, it
indicates the A/D interface cannot be read by the RIOM.
The polarization potentiometer cannot be read. The polarization RIOM
reports this error. This does not indicate a polarization potentiometer is
broken, it indicates the A/D interface cannot be read by the RIOM.
Indicates an RSL read issue
The azimuth stow magnetic switch cannot be read. The azimuth RIOM
reports this error. This does not indicate the magnetic switch is broken, it
indicates the digital input cannot be read by the RIOM.
The polarization limit switch cannot be read. The polarization RIOM
reports this error. This does not indicate the limit switch is broken, it
indicates the digital input cannot be read by the RIOM.
The polarization center switch cannot be read. The polarization RIOM
reports this error. This does not indicate the center switch is broken, it
indicates the digital input cannot be read by the RIOM.
The elevation up limit switch cannot be read. The elevation RIOM reports
this error. This does not indicate the up limit switch is broken, it indicates
the digital input cannot be read by the RIOM.
The elevation down limit switch cannot be read. The elevation RIOM
reports this error. This does not indicate the down limit switch is broken, it
indicates the digital input cannot be read by the RIOM.
The azimuth clockwise limit switch cannot be read. The azimuth RIOM
reports this error. This does not indicate the clockwise limit switch is
broken, it indicates the digital input cannot be read by the RIOM.
