packages designed for CRS-1 routers, the platform designation is “hfr.”

• The “mini” composite name indicates a file that includes all the
packages in the Cisco IOS XR Unicast Routing Core Bundle, which
is described in Chapter 6, “Managing Cisco IOS XR Software
Packages.”
• A copy of the “mini” composite file is included on the disk1: archive
shipped with new routers.
• The “full” composite name indicates a file that includes all the
packages in the “mini” composite file plus the Multicast and MPLS
packages.
• The “full-k9” composite name indicates a file that includes all the

major Identifies the major release of this package.
• A major release occurs when there is a major architectural change

• All packages operating on the router must be at the same major
release level.
• A major release is the least frequent release and may require a router
reboot.
