■ Ribbon Saving Modes
Interlace Printing
This mode uses each section of ribbon twice, producing a reduced density print. This
reduces the overall use of ribbon by half, lowering running costs, and doubling the time
between ribbon changes.
• During the first print, the Printhead
elements required to form the
image are alternately energized,
transferring half the ink
• The ribbon is then wound back on
the Continuous machine and the
Printhead returned to the home
position on the Intermittent
• During the next print, all the Printhead elements are energized, transferring the
remaining ink to the substrate
• The ribbon is advanced to the next position
Set up
The contrast between the 2 prints is balanced using the Print Darkness setting. Best
results are with the printer set within a speed range of 150 to 250 mm/sec. The
recommended maximum print speed is 400 mm/sec.
• If the first print is darker than the second, reduce the Print Darkness
• If the first print is lighter than the second, increase the Print Darkness
After a good contrast balance has been made print quality can be improved using the Cont 5
level.
• If the trailing part of each printed element is distorted, reduce the Cont 5 level
• If the trailing part of each printed element is weak, increase the Cont 5 level
Note: Interlaced mode is not suitable for barcodes or graphics.
