MAINTENANCE, SERVICE AND FAULT FINDING
25364 Issue 8 March 2018 4-65
Poor Print Quality (continued) Excessive vibration of the packaging
machine. Improve the mounting of the
printer. If possible increase the print
delay so that vibration has reduced by
the time printing starts.
IM (Intermittent Mode): The substrate is
still moving when printing starts.
Increase the print delay.
CM (Continuous Mode): The encoder
speed is not providing an accurate
measurement of the speed of the
substrate.
The matching of the ribbon and the
substrate is very important. An
incorrect match will not give good print
quality. Contact your local Easyprint
distributor for further details.
If lines of dots are not printing and
cleaning the print head and platen /
roller does not resolve the problem,
replace the print head.
For Communicator II only: Check the
air supply is at the appropriate level.
Air pressure settings For Communicator II only: Make sure
that the air is connected on the rear of
the printer body. Check that the air
pressure regulator is set to the required
pressure (typically this is 2-5 bar, but is
always a little higher on the 128mm
printers.
Exceeding the stated pressure will
overstress the print head. The setting
of the air pressure is critical to the
performance of the print head. Too little
pressure will result in poor quality or no
print. Too much pressure may result in
increased physical wear on the print
head and platen. The platen is marked
where the print head has worn it.
