Ribbon Breaks
Problem Action
Ribbon breaks may be
caused by one of the
foll
owing issues:
Check that the encoder matches the
substrate speed correctly, otherwise the
ribbon may be dragged out of the printer
and eventually break.
IM only: Check that the printer is printing
whilst the substr
ate is stationary.
CM only: Check that the energy to the print
head is not t
oo high.
When increasing the level of ribbon
e
conomy, reduce the Print Head Pressure
value setting to compensate for extra
friction forces that are applied on the
ribbon during printing. Reducing the Print
Head Pressure value reduces the friction
forces that can cause the ribbon to crease,
stick to the substrate or break.
