The green indicator LED on the motor controller will exnguish as rotaonal speed drops
below normal speed. At very low speeds, the yellow indicator LED will ash and will exnguish
when the pump has stopped.
The deceleraon me can be improved by using the electronic braking feature, refer to
Electronic braking opons on page 41.
Operaon at extreme condions
Operaon with high inlet pressure
If the nEXT85 pump inlet pressure rises, the power supplied to the pump motor will increase to
counteract the gas friconal load.
The pump
rotaonal speed will remain constant unl the peak power level is reached; beyond
this level, the speed of the pump will start to reduce.
If the pump speed falls to below 50% of full rotaonal speed, the mer will start if it is enabled.
If the speed does not recover to above 50% speed before the meout period expires, the pump
will shut down and display a fail signal. If the mer is disabled, the pump will immediately shut
down and display a fail signal if the speed drops below 50% of full rotaonal speed. Refer to
Electrical data on page 91 for the maximum power delivered to the pump and to Table 38 on
page 86, for maximum allowable inlet pressure.
Operaon at high temperatures
Temperature sensors within the pump mechanism and electronics are monitored by an internal
system.
If the system detects that any internal temperatures are too high, the power supplied to the
pump motor is reduced; the pump may not therefore be able to maintain full rotaonal speed
if it is too hot.
Refer to
Table 36 on page 84 for pump operang ranges and Cooling on page 32 for advice on pump
cooling.
Protecon against over-speed
Control
soware within the motor controller regulates the pump rotaonal speed and
prevents the pump
operang above its normal full rotaonal speed.
In the unlikely event of a failure of this control
soware, the motor controller has a built-in
safety circuit that checks whether the pump is running at over-speed. If an over-speed
condion is detected, the motor controller automacally shuts down power to the pump
motor and slows it down to rest. The motor controller will signal a fail condion if over-speed
has been detected.
If the pump appears to be running at over-speed, switch it o and consult Edwards or the
supplier.
