CAUTION:
The screen protects the pump from contaminaon. Do not remove the inlet screen unl
the pump is about to be mounted onto the system.
1. To remove the inlet screen from a pump with CF inlet ange, use a bent wire hook or
small screwdriver to carefully lever the inlet screen out from the inlet ange.
2. To replace an inlet screen, locate it as centrally as possible over the CF inlet ange and
then, with ngers applying equal pressure around the edge of the screen, push it
rmly downwards.
If they are not already in place, the tangs must be snapped into the locang groove in
the inlet ange using a suitable tool to press them into posion.
For ISO anged pumps, Edwards supplies a combinaon inlet screen/trapped O-ring.
Mount the pump
The pump can be base or ange mounted using only the specied xings. The NW40 inlet
variant cannot be ange mounted.
WARNING:
Ensure the pump is securely xed to the vacuum system through its inlet ange or base
using all available mounng points. If the pump were to seize when not securely mounted
or restrained, the stored energy of the rotor could cause rapid movement of the pump,
which may cause further damage and injury to personnel.
WARNING:
If a pump fails it is likely to eject parts into the vacuum system onto which it is mounted.
The customer must ensure that a hazard is not created should this occur.. Edwards accepts
no responsibility should injury or damage to persons, equipment or property occur as a
result of a failed pump ejecng parts into a customer’s system.
1. To base mount the pump, 4 x M5 bolts (Class 12.9) must be used with 9 mm thread
engagement.
2. To ange mount the pump, 4 x Edwards Hooded Claw Clamps (C10007090) must be
used, ghtened to 10 Nm.
Base mounng
The base of the nEXT85 pump can be xed to a rm support using the tapped xing holes.
Note:
The four rubber feet must be removed from the four tapped xing holes before the pump can
be base mounted.
The following requirements should be met to ensure the pump remains secure in the event of
a total pump seizure:
