5.2 Diagnosis via status bits or the I/O diagnostic interface
The CPX terminal offers the following two modes for diag
nosis, irrespective of the CPX bus node used:
Mode
Description
Status bits
(system status)
The status bits serve for displaying com
mon diagnostic messages (global fault
message). Access to the status bits is
made via 8 internal inputs (see section
5.2.1).
I/O diagnostic inter
face (system diagno
sis)
The I/O diagnostic interface is a fieldbus−
independent diagnostic interface.
With this interface, all internal data and
parameters can be read out via 16 internal
inputs and 16 internal outputs (see sec
tion 5.2.2 and Appendix B). All diagnostic
information is then also available even if
the fieldbus protocol used does not offer
any extensive diagnostic functions.
