Data Quality
FLIRBrickstream people counting sensors deliver accuracy with an average error rate of ±5% under the
following conditions:
n A minimum of 100 people are counted over the validation period.
n A maximum of 5,000 people are counted per hour moving through a 1 meter wide area at the
time of crossing.
n Light levels are above 12.5 Lux/Lx.
n The sample set is restricted to adults between 150 cm and 200 cm tall walking less than 14
km/hour (8.7mph). For example, children may not meet the height constraint and cyclists may
not meet the velocity constraint.
n The sample set excludes people congregating in the entrance or doorway.
n The sensor configuration conforms to FLIR's recommendation for the specific environment.
n The sensor is operated within standard temperature and humidity levels (0°C to 40°C and 5% to
95%)
n The lens is appropriate for the mounting height and mounting angle.
n The sensor has a maximum of 5 degrees tilt and is mounted within recommended height ranges.
n The lenses are free from dirt, grease, or scratches to enable normal operation.
n The sensor can fully see people, unobstructed, in both lenses.
n There are no transparent or translucent objects (for example, glass) between the sensor and the
people to be counted.
n The sensor has been properly calibrated and tracking quality has been verified.
n The counting lines are positioned so that a person is tracked for a minimum of 3 feet (90 cm)
prior to crossing a line.
