The GDU 4XX units are not suitable for installation in a type-certificated aircraft.
GDU 4XX displays are mounted flush to the aircraft instrument panel using four #6 screws. Each display
contains a GPS receiver and video input, and the GDU 455/465 units additionally provide a built-in
SiriusXM
® receiver.
6.1.1 Navigation Functions
• Display of position and ground speed
• Display of stored navigation and map databases
• Area navigation functions using the determined position/velocity and stored navigation data
• Advisory approach navigation functions and associated databases
• Display of flight plan and navigation from an external GPS navigator
• Display of navigation data from an external VOR/ILS NAV radio
6.1.2 Interface Summary
NOTE
A G3X™ avionics installation can use either GDU 37X or GDU 4XX displays, but a G3X
system installation cannot use GDU 37X and
GDU 4XX displays.
NOTE
If upgrading from a GDU 37X to a GDU 4XX display, refer to upgrade instructions in
Section 32.2.1.5
for information pertaining to preserving/transferring stored system
calibration information.

using Connext® computer application Bluetooth connections to Garmin Pilot™ app
device(s).
The GDU 4XX uses CAN and RS-232 interfaces to communicate with Garmin LRUs and other devices.

, Section 24, Appendix G, Section 25, and Section 30 for interconnect and
configuration information.
The GDU 4XX supports video input through a wired connection (see Section 23.3.4
).
The GDU 4XX includes a wireless Bluetooth transceiver than can communicate with tablet computers and
other Garmin devices that support the Connext interface protocol. Refer to the G3X Touch Pilot’s Guide
(190-01754-00) for guidance in using Connext Bluetooth connections.
