6-3 Offset computation
When the front blade has been correctly calibrated, the blade offsets are calculated:
1. Click the CONTINUE button to continue with Offset Calibration
2. Use the X-ray Console to make two exposures.
3. The offset values for the four blades are displayed on screen. Check that they are within the following
limits:
4. If all of these offsets are within the specified limits, the calibration procedure is complete: click the
SAVE button to store the offset values
5. If any one of the displayed values is out of specification, more checks and adjustments must be
made. Continue with the corrective actions described in section 6-3-1 below.
6-3-1 Corrective actions
If any one of the displayed values is out of specification, select the appropriate action as described
below:
1. A displayed offset is out of specification at the first attempt.
The collimator must be reinstalled and the full calibration procedure repeated. Proceed as follows:
a. Click the on-screen CANCEL button to terminate the calibration.
b. Remove and reinstall the collimator.
c. Repeat the full calibration procedure from section 6-2.
d. If the calibration of parallelism and computation of offset values are now within specifications, the
calibration procedure is now complete.
e. If one of the displayed values is still out of specification, continue with step 2.
2. A displayed offset is out of specification after reinstallation of the collimator.
The action to be taken depends upon the blade offset in error. Proceed as follows:
a. If the front or rear blade offset is out of specification, check the positions of the detector assembly
and the tube assembly.
If it is necessary to move either the tube or the detector, perform Job Card CAL A027 - Tube Tilt
Calibration on page 1681. Then repeat the full collimator format calibration.
b. If the left or right blade offset is out of specification, check the position of the tube assembly.
If it is necessary to move the tube, perform Job Card CAL A027 - Tube Tilt Calibration on page
1681. Then repeat the full collimator format calibration.
c. If one of the displayed values is still out of specification, continue with step 3.
