2-3 Relaunch the AWS Application
Note:
Relaunching the AWS application is only applicable to V1/V2 Control Stations.
To re-launch the AWS application from the ok prompt proceed as follows:
1. At the ok prompt, enter:
setenv auto-boot? true
2. At the ok prompt, enter:
boot
A Login: prompt appears.
3. Login as the sdc user as follows:
a. At the Login: prompt enter:
sdc
b. At the Password: prompt, press the <Return> key.
The AWS login screen appears after a short delay.
2-4 Change UNIX User
To change UNIX user proceed as follows:
1. From a command line window, enter:
su - <username>
where <username> is a valid UNIX user such as root or sdc.
2. If a Password: prompt appears, enter the appropriate password for the username you initially speci-
fied.
3 FILE SYSTEM FSCK TEST
• Type: UNIX command
• Description: This test checks the file system. It must be launched when the file system is suspected
to be corrupt. For example, the AWS has been powered off manually, files can not be found, boot
does not succeed, or some basic system functions are not available. These problems are detected
by the operating system during the boot and you are prompted to run fsck.
Procedure:
1. Shutdown and power up the AWS.
2. From the Login: prompt that appears, log in as root as follows:
a. At the Login: prompt enter:
root
b. When requested to specify the root password, enter:
operator
3. At the command line, enter:
fsck -y
4. At the command line, enter:
echo $status
5. If the result is not equal to 0 or 40:
a. If not done since the last configuration modification, backup the system to a floppy diskette or a
CD-R (see Job Card ELE A052 - Back-up/Restore Procedure on page 771).
