percentages. The Blank Correction feature should be performed when reagents or
dilution water are changed.
Blank Corrected Carbon concentration measurements that have had the contribution of carbon in the
reagents and dilution water subtracted.
Calibration Adjustment of the Analyzer’s response, following measurement of one or more
standards, having accurately known concentrations. All calibrations performed in the
InnovOx TOC Analyzer are performed in the NPOC mode, using standards containing
known TOC concentrations.
Calibration Group The four calibrations that the user selects for use with Auto Range are assigned to a
Calibration Group. Calibration Groups are named and saved in the same way that
individual Calibrations are saved.
Check Standard In this manual, the term “check standard” refers to a standard, having a known carbon
concentration that is used to confirm that the Analyzer is performing properly and that
its calibration is within acceptable limits. A check standard is not used for calibration or
verification.
Clean Inlet The Clean Inlet function aids in controlling biological growth in the sample cup and inlet
tubing by flushing the sample inlet with acid reagent during the Daily Flush.
Cycle Frequency The Cycle Frequency setting allows you to preset periodic TOC measurements of each
stream, such as every hour, every two hours, and so on.
Fail Safe The Fail Safe accessory includes level sensors fitted to the Analyzer that trigger an
automatic alert when each reagent, dilution water, and Check Standard carboy should
be refilled. It also automatically skips analysis of sample streams when flow stops.
Flush The Sievers InnovOx Online TOC Analyzer can perform two types of flushes: Sample
Flushes and Dilution Water Flushes (defined later in this section).
Sample Flush Sample Flushes should be performed only when there is a very large concentration
difference between one sample and the next. Up to five Sample Flushes can be
performed before the new sample is analyzed, depending upon how difficult rinsing out
the first sample is expected to be. During a Sample Flush, the Analyzer draws in the new
sample and mixes it with the same amounts of reagents and dilution that will be used in
the subsequent analysis. This solution is drawn through the Sparging Chamber and
Reactor Module to rinse out traces of the previous sample.
Daily Flush The Daily Flush function causes the Analyzer to flush the reagents, dilution water, and
check standard every 24 hours of online operation. This maintains the accuracy of the
measurements by eliminating bubbles that accumulate in the tubing during normal
operation.
Dilution Water Flush A Dilution Water Flush should be performed only when a sample contains a high
concentration of salts or particulates. Dilution water is drawn through the Sparging
Chamber and the Reactor to dissolve any residual salts and to flush out particulates that
may otherwise remain behind. Dilution Water Flushes reduce maintenance by cleaning
the Reactor and its valve seals.
