Chapter 4: Installation
To install the Wastewater Sampler (velocity method)
Figure 15: Velocity Method
Use this method when the sample flow-through rate is in the range of 2 to 6 GPM (0.454 to 1.36 m
3
/hour) with
minimal back pressure to ensure a high velocity, but with relative laminar flow.
The sample stream to the Wastewater Sampler is installed at the pipe farthest from the instrument. The water
quickly flows over the weir and sample is drawn from the stream in the opposite direction of the sample flow,
allowing solids to flow by the sample tube and preventing them from being drawn into the instrument. See
Figure 15:
Velocity Method.
Flexible 1” tubing is included with the Kit for the supply and drain side of the Wastewater Sampler pipe
assembly. When configuring for velocity mode operation, use the 3/4" NPT to 1" barb fittings for the outlet pipe
of the sampler.
1. Attach and secure the Wastewater sampler brackets to the left side of the Analyzer, as follows. (The
screws are taped to the side of each bracket.)
• Top bracket — Slide the following bracket over the plate adapter and secure it by tightening a screw
on each end of the plate adapter.
