ToimprovesafetyduringuseoftheTPD32-EVseriesofconverters(mainsnoise,disturbancebetweendrives)
andguaranteecompliancewiththeconditionsasrequiredunderEN60146-1-1,IEC146-1-2andEN61136-1,
athree-phasemainschokeshouldbeinstalledupstreamoftheequipment.Inthemajorityofcases,givenarela-
tiveshort-circuitvoltageofatleast100kAandasimultaneityfactorof1(EN50178,A6.3.6),theinclusionof
aswitchingchoke(ortransformer)withrelativevoltagedropofUK=4%guaranteescommutationnotchesat
thecommoncouplingpoint(CCP)withanamplitudeoflessthan20%.
4.10.1 AC input choke
AccordingtoEN61800-3standard(TableB.1),themax.allowabledepthofthecommutationnotchesinthe
PCislimitedto20%-40%dependingontheinstallationenvironment.Thismaybeobtainedinstallingsuitable
decouplingreactorsortransformers.
Ontheotherhand,foraproperoperation,thedriveshallbeconnectedtoanelectricalsupplylinehavingare-
actancewitharelativevoltagedropofbetween2%(min)and10%(max).Thedecouplingreactancerequiresa
speciccalculationbasedontherelativeshort-circuitpowerRSCattheconnectionpointandtheactualtypeof
connection(singleormultipledrives,separatingtransformers,etc.).But,asanindication,thefollowingtables
listthedecouplingreactancevaluesLd(mainsspool)havingarelativevoltagedropof2%or4%.Thevalue
referstoadriveratedoutputcurrent,butcanbecalculatedforthemotorDCratedcurrent.Thelinecurrentvalue
isgivenbyILN=IdNx0.82.(Onshowncalculationsasafetymarginof+5%hasbeenadded).Itshouldalso
benotedthatdriveshavingsuchahighrelativevoltageusuallybelongtothe"secondenvironment".
