Since the digital image with Hasselblad is recorded raw, the White Balance setting on the
camera only affects the color on the preview screen and not the image recorded on the sen-
sor. The White Balance setting, however, will be considered when the images are transferred
with the FlexColor or Phocus software. The White Balance setting therefore should be made
on the digital sensor unit (Figure 5-10).

The White Balance is set on the sensor unit by depressing the menu control then navi-
gating to White Balance. Depressing the or controls brings up the options Fluorescent,
Tungsten, Flash, Shade Cloudy, Daylight, or Manual. Select the setting that applies to your sit-
uation. The set White Balance is shown on top of the Preview screen and also on the grip
LCD display of H3D camera models. For most of your photography, you want to set the White
Balance for the known light source.
In the Manual setting the arrow points to the right navigation control which brings up
the Manual White Balance window. You have two options, either Capture Neutral Object or
using the or controls to set to the desired Color Temperature (Figure 5-11).
You may want to select the Color Temperature option when working with a precise color
temperature value.
The Neutral Object Option
The Neutral Object option provides the most professional way for assuring proper colors
in the digital image. In the Neutral Object version, you make a test exposure with a neutral
