The Instant Film Magazine
The instant fi lm magazine HMi100 for the H camera has the Databus connections and a dial
for programming the ISO value on the magazine. This magazine is basically attached and
detached from the camera the same way as other fi lm magazines. It also has a darkslide with
a clearly marked handle in bright red that must be removed to take a picture. The darkslide
must be inserted when the magazine is removed from the camera.
CAMERA OPERATION
Activating the Camera
The controls for activating the camera are on top of the camera grip, with the information vis-
ible on the LCD display (see Figure 4-12). You activate the H camera by pressing the ON/OFF
button next to the LCD display for half a second. This puts the camera in the Standby mode
with the LCD display showing the H camera logo followed automatically by the ON mode.
After 10 seconds (or whatever time is programmed into the camera with the custom option)
the camera goes back into the Standby mode. Clicking the ON/OFF button, the Stop Down
button (item 22, Figure 4-1), or depressing the release (item 19, Figure 4-1) halfway always
changes the camera back to the Power On (Active) mode with the Home screen showing the
standard information display. Leaving the camera in Standby mode, instead of turning it off
completely, allows you to reactivate the camera instantly during a shoot. You can illuminate
the LCD display on the grip by pressing the Illumination button (the one with the light bulb
symbol). The light goes off automatically when the camera goes into Standby mode or when
the button is pressed again.
The length of the time the camera remains in the Active (Standby) mode can be changed
from 5 to 30 seconds as described later in the Custom Options section. A longer standby cycle
naturally uses more battery power. To save battery power even more when the camera is
stored or not used for some time, turn it off by pressing the ON/OFF switch for half a second.
