Operating the 200 Cameras for Digital
Imaging and Film Photography
Hasselblad 203 or 205 cameras interlocked with E, ECC, or TCC magazines and with FE or
TCC lenses provide a simple and automated operation that requires little instruction for
eliminating mistakes. The text here, although limited to operations that apply to 200 cameras
specifi cally, is somewhat long only to give you complete details about all the operating pos-
sibilities especially regarding the built-in exposure and fl ash metering system. The metering
approach that produces perfect exposures with these built-in metering systems is described
in Chapter 15. Figure 12-1 shows all the camera operating controls. The exposure mode selec-
tor shown in Figure 12-2 is a distinguishing feature of the different 200 camera models.
DIGITAL IMAGING WITH 200 CAMERA MODELS
Hasselblad 200 camera models are beautiful tools for digital imaging mainly because the
excellent built-in metering system can simplify the metering process and produce beautifully
exposed digital images. The cameras can be used with Hasselblad digital backs CFV with the
square 16 megapixel 36.7 36.7 mm sensor, but they require a minor modifi cation if used
with F lenses. Consult Hasselblad regarding this modifi cation. A modifi ed camera works in the
cable free mode with F lenses or CF lenses set to F. ISO settings on a modifi ed camera must be
made with any magazine, lm or digital. With a CFV digital back, the ISO setting must be made
on the camera and on the digital back. Rapid exposure sequences should be avoided.
200 model cameras can also be used with the large 36.7 49.0 sensor in Hasselblad CF
22 (22 megapixels) and CF 39 (39 megapixels) digital backs described in Chapter 3. They are
used in Single-shot mode together with Hasselblad ELD adapter and Flash sync input cable,
but only with C type lenses. F lenses cannot be used with these digital backs.
RELEASING THE CAMERA
All camera models in the 200 series have electronically controlled focal plane shutters.
Protect the curtain by storing the camera body with a magazine attached.
